Summary

[edit]
Description

The 1937-40 Ford passenger cars got a more rounded body and V shaped grille and a V shaped windscreen. The tear drop headlamps were integrated into the front fenders. Ford had been producing factory made pickup trucks since 1925. From 1932-39 Pickups had their own more basic styling. New for 1940, was these light duty car based pickups with Standard Series passenger car front sheet metal and passenger car chassis, rated at 1/2 ton, the first time since 1932 that trucks shared car styling. In contrast, Sedan Deliveries carried the styling of the Deluxe Series with slated 'gills' flanking a horizontal-bar grille In 1941, the Sedans got a new body, but with the 1941 pickup, it was still the 1940 shape. The only difference, the 1941 pickup got a wider chrome garnish running down the nose of the hood. 1940/41 3/4, 1 and 1 1/2 ton pickups were built on a heavier, longer chassis with completely different front sheet metal, 1938,39 style fenders with headlights on top. Focus was on functionality rather than style with quite spartan interiors. Available in Piuckup, Panel, Platform and Stakebed. Cab-Over-Engine (COE) models were also available

Engines; 60hp 136 cu in, 90hp 221 cu in or 95hp 239 cu in Flathead V8s. (139 cu in V8 replaced by 120 cu in 4 cyl mid year)
